Homeowners shaken in Humboldt County, California

A magnitude-4.8 earthquake struck 45 miles southwest of Eureka, Humboldt County, California, on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 11:27 AM Pacific Time.

Local residents reported shaking felt in Eureka, Fortuna, Fields Landing, McKinleyville, and Rio Dell.

A homeowner in Miranda, California reports:

“Our home had distinct CREAK and movement right after warning over cell phone alerted us.”

Another homeowner in Eureka, California writes:

“I felt a very sharp jolt, with a loud “boom”. It was as if a bomb blasted under my house.”
