Magnitude 4.8 Earthquake Shakes Vancouver and Northwest Washington
On Friday afternoon, a magnitude-4.8 earthquake struck west of Squamish, B.C., sending tremors through Vancouver and parts of northwest Washington.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred around 1:30 p.m. with a relatively shallow depth, making the shaking more noticeable.
While mild earthquakes are not uncommon in the region, this serves as a reminder of the area’s seismic activity. Residents are encouraged to stay prepared with emergency plans and supplies in case of future events.
